    • Radio Maria: Fusion food, tapas
    • KO Fusion: Asian fusion, sushi
    • Farren’s Bar and Restaurant: Great burgers, decent beer selection.
    • Maize: Excellent Mexican food. It has a new branch in the old train station in downtown Champaign – the old one is on campus.
    • Bacaro: Outstanding fine dining, emphasis on seasonal and local foods
    • Golden Harbor: Outstanding Chinese food. On the edge of campus in Champaign.
    • Pizzeria Antica: Wood fired Italian style pizza.
    • Watson’s Shack and Rail: Fried chicken and bourbon slushies
    • Kohinoor: Very good Indian food
    • Himalayan Chimney: Very good mostly Indian food
    • Big Grove Tavern: Slightly upscale Midwestern

    In Downtown Urbana:

    • Black Dog: Simply the Best BBQ restaurant in Champaign-Urbana; on top 10 list in the country. No reservations. Now there is a branch in Champaign too, so the wait is shorter.
    • Crane Alley: They have a nice beer selection, good burgers and great Italian beef. Also have pool tables and nice outdoor seating.
    • Courier Café: The best fries and shakes in town, a great value for money
    • Siam Terrace: Thai food
    • SilverCreek Restaurant: Fine dinner restaurant.

    In Campustown:

    • On the nice side:
      • Timpone’s: Italian and American, most formal place on campus
      • Bread Company: good wine, fondue, American food.
    • Casual

    • Iron Post (nationally ranked place for jazz) – Urbana
    • Rigg’s Beer Company – on the East edge of Urbana
    • Triptych Brewing – in Savoy just a bit South of campus
